Zoek is a job-board.
The recruitment business can be divided into three segments; Recruitment firms, Job-boards and Aggregators.
- Recruitment firms are the most important. They are also the most human-reliant segment; dealing directly with firms and sourcing candidates to fill the positions.
- Job-boards take available positions from recruitment agencies and present them in a search engine on the Internet and collect cv’s from willing applicants. They also integrate with the aggregators to widen the market scope.
- Aggregators move data around between job boards and large recruiters but do not present the data on the internet. They are purely a b2b business.
Zoek presented themselves to me as a Uk based job board with a difference. They wanted to use intelligent machine learning algorithms to provide better matching of candidates to jobs (instead of simple cv scanning for key words).
I worked on their customer-facing Admin Panel and back-end systems. The technologies were wide and varied with C# MVC backend connected to Azure SQL and DocumentDB storage systems using Knockout JS (MVVM) to fill their front-end pages with data.
Key achievements
- Implemented massive improvements in the Admin-Panel performance
- Worked on REST APIs to provide integration with Broadbean, logic Melon, Ibidu and other aggregators.
